PROJECT CASE STUDY

YMCA Camp Lincoln

Camp amphitheater.

YMCA Camp Lincoln is a long-standing children’s camp located in Kingston, New Hampshire, serving generations of campers across a wooded, multi-acre site. As part of the camp’s ongoing commitment to accessibility and long-term stewardship, the project focused on restoring key facilities while improving inclusivity and functionality across the campus.

Construction Operations Group was engaged to lead construction efforts for multiple phased improvements, including restoration of the natural amphitheater, construction of an ADA-accessible restroom building, and delivery of new ADA-compliant cabins. The work was executed within an active camp environment, requiring careful planning, logistical coordination, and disciplined field leadership.

The Challenge

The Camp Lincoln project presented a combination of logistical, scheduling, and operational challenges. Construction activities were required to take place within narrow seasonal windows to avoid disrupting camp operations, placing pressure on sequencing and field execution.

The multi-phase scope added complexity, with restoration work and new construction occurring in parallel across different areas of the campus. Accessibility requirements were central to the project, requiring careful attention to detail to ensure ADA compliance while respecting the natural setting of the site.

Additionally, working within a wooded environment with limited access required thoughtful material staging, trade coordination, and continuous adjustment to field conditions.

COG’s Approach

COG led the project with a strong emphasis on planning, flexibility, and hands-on field oversight. Early coordination focused on defining realistic schedules, sequencing work to align with camp operations, and ensuring that all trades clearly understood access limitations and site constraints.

Detailed pre-planning allowed construction activities to move efficiently within compressed windows, while disciplined field leadership ensured quality standards were maintained across both restoration and new construction work. Throughout the project, COG maintained close communication with camp leadership to support transparency, minimize disruption, and adapt quickly as conditions evolved.

This structured yet flexible approach allowed the project team to navigate logistical challenges while maintaining steady progress across all phases.

The Outcome

COG’s hands-on, collaborative approach helped Camp Lincoln achieve its vision for a more welcoming, safe, and accessible campus, while staying aligned with budget realities and the strict time constraints of seasonal construction.

The completed work enhanced accessibility across the campus, improved functionality of key facilities, and extended the useful life of critical infrastructure. The result is a revitalized amphitheater experience, improved site accessibility, and upgraded facilities that better support campers and staff for years to come.

Through careful planning, disciplined execution, and attention to long-term performance, COG delivered lasting improvements that reflect what it means to Build Better.
